Two Injured in Lorry Accident at Pecharthal
Two persons were injured when a 12-wheeler goods lorry lost control and plunged off a culvert at the Pecharthal Laxanchhara area while travelling from Kumarghat to Panisagar. The driver and co-driver narrowly escaped with their lives and were rescued by fire service personnel before being taken to the Pecharthal Primary Health Centre. Senior police officials later visited the accident site to assess the situation.
Two people were injured in a lorry accident on Tuesday afternoon at the Pecharthal Laxanchhara area while the vehicle was en route from Kumarghat to Panisagar.
According to reports, a 12-wheeler goods-laden lorry bearing registration number AS 01 DD 4226 lost control while attempting to cross a culvert and plunged down in a horrific manner. The accident occurred in the Pecharthal police station area, causing panic among local residents.
The injured have been identified as the driver Akhil Debnath, aged above 50, and the co-driver Amit Debnath, aged 28. Both are residents of the Padmabil area under North Tripura district. They narrowly escaped with their lives.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons, later shifting them to the Pecharthal Primary Health Centre for medical treatment.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Sudambika R, Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Pecharthal Police Station Officer-in-Charge, along with other police and TSR personnel, visited the accident site to conduct a spot inspection.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
