A Gauhati University student was found dead at a homestay in Garal, Azara, Kamrup Metro, late Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Nimisha Thakuria of Dharapur.
According to her family, Nimisha had reportedly left home with a friend and later made a distress call to her mother. Her phone was reportedly switched off soon after, leading the family to contact Azara Police.
Homestay staff reportedly heard screams before finding Nimisha unconscious. A man was also reportedly present at the location. Police are investigating the incident, and the post-mortem examination is expected to help establish the cause and circumstances of her death.
