Another Bear Attack Reported in Tripura’s Birandra Nagar; Husband and Wife Attacked While Working in Jungle

Birandra Nagar, Panjiray Para, Tripura, August 30, 2026: Another incident of a suspected bear attack has been reported from Birandra Nagar, Panjiray Para, in the Khowai–Santirbazar area of Tripura, just around 20 days after a bear attack involving Deba Manik Tripura, son of Karna Mohan Tripura of Jadab Para, Karbook.
According to information received from local sources, Wangsaibai Mog and his wife had gone into the nearby jungle early Sunday morning to carry out their daily work. At around 7:00 AM, they were reportedly attacked by a bear.
The sudden attack left the couple in distress. Hearing about the incident, local villagers rushed to the area and helped bring the injured couple out of the jungle. They were subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The latest incident has caused concern among residents living close to forest areas, particularly those who depend on the jungle for their daily livelihood. People in the affected areas are now worried about the possible movement of wild bears near human settlements and work areas.
The incident comes approximately 20 days after the reported bear attack on Deba Manik Tripura of Jadab Para, Karbook, highlighting growing concerns over human-wildlife encounters in forest-fringe areas of Tripura.
Residents have urged the concerned authorities and Forest Department to take necessary measures to monitor bear movement and ensure the safety of people who have to enter forest areas for their daily work.
