Tripura CM Launches TSAAF to Boost Quality and Accountability in Education
"Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha launches the Tripura School Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSAAF) to enhance school quality and accountability, aligned with NEP 2020, aiming for holistic educational reform across the state."
Agartala, July 4, 2025:
In a significant move toward educational reform, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched the Tripura School Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSAAF) on Friday. The framework is designed to systematically evaluate and upgrade the quality of education in the state, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Addressing a gathering of educators, officials, and stakeholders at the launch event, Dr. Saha emphasized that TSAAF will serve as a tool to assess both academic performance and infrastructural conditions of schools. “This is an essential step toward transforming Tripura’s schools into centres of excellence. It contributes directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.
The Chief Minister celebrated Tripura’s recognition as a fully literate state, making it the third in India to achieve this status after Mizoram and Goa. He also noted that educational outcomes have significantly improved in recent years, particularly in Vidyajyoti (CBSE) schools, where pass percentages rose by 26% in Class 10 and 21% in Class 12 compared to last year.
However, Dr. Saha acknowledged the ongoing challenge of teacher shortages, referencing the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s cancellation of 10,323 teacher appointments. “We inherited a crisis, but we are committed to rebuilding,” he stated, noting that 226 new teachers have already been recruited via the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT), with more appointments underway.
The introduction of TSAAF marks a shift toward institutional accountability and continuous improvement in education. Officials say the framework will facilitate periodic assessments and guide interventions, ensuring quality education reaches every corner of the state.
