BSF Jawan Injured in Firing Incident Along Tripura Border
A BSF jawan was injured in a firing incident along the India–Bangladesh border in Tripura’s North district. The injured personnel, identified as Bipin Kumar of the 97th Battalion, sustained gunshot wounds to his shoulder while on duty and was later referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala. A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in a firing incident along the India–Bangladesh international border in Tripura’s North district on December 23, officials said.
The injured personnel has been identified as Bipin Kumar (35), a member of the 97th Battalion of the BSF, who was deployed at the Maheshpur Border Outpost under the Dharmanagar subdivision at the time of the incident.
Officials said the jawan sustained gunshot injuries while performing his duties and was promptly taken to a nearby medical facility. Doctors found two bullet injury marks on his shoulder. After receiving initial treatment, he was referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala for advanced medical care.
Hospital sources confirmed that Kumar’s condition is stable.
According to police sources, preliminary findings suggest that the firing may have been accidental or self-inflicted, though the exact circumstances are yet to be determined. Authorities have launched a detailed inquiry to establish the cause of the incident.
