Three Women Caught Trafficking Over 15 kg of Marijuana in Teliamura
Three women arrested in Teliamura for trafficking over 15 kg of marijuana, raising serious concerns about drug smuggling networks in the region.
In a renewed enforcement action, local police in Teliāmura have once again cracked down on illicit narcotics trafficking, this time intercepting a significant consignment of marijuana. Three women from a neighboring state were arrested while attempting to illegally transport the contraband.
According to Sub-Inspector Sumitra Debbarma, officers were conducting routine vehicle inspections in front of the police station when they stopped a Max passenger van traveling from Agartala to Ambassa. The behavior of three female passengers immediately raised suspicion, prompting a thorough search at the station.
The subsequent inspection revealed that the women were concealing over 15 kilograms of dried marijuana in their clothing—an amount estimated to be worth more than one lakh rupees (₹100,000). The recovered narcotics and the arrests were made in strict compliance with all legal protocols.
The Teliāmura Police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and a detailed investigation is now underway.
