Tension in Bamutia’s Kalibazar as BJP Supporters Protest Manik Sarkar

Agartala, Tripura: Tension was reported in the Kalibazar area of Bamutia Assembly constituency on Sunday as BJP supporters staged a protest against former Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar.
According to local reports, Sarkar had arrived in Kalibazar to attend a DYFI conference at the CPI(M) party office. During his visit, BJP supporters reportedly gathered with black flags and raised slogans in protest. Police personnel were present at the spot as the demonstration continued.
The protest temporarily created tension in the area and reportedly affected the movement of Sarkar’s convoy. CPI(M) supporters also alleged that there was an attempt to disrupt the former Chief Minister’s programme. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Despite the protest, the DYFI conference went ahead, with Sarkar addressing party workers and participants. A report by Jagaran Tripura quoted Sarkar as saying that attempts were made to disrupt the programme, but that the conference continued despite the situation.
The incident has once again highlighted the political tensions between supporters of the BJP and the Left in Tripura. The situation later returned to normal, according to the report.
