BJP Holds Protest Rally in Mandai Against Opposition Leader’s Remarks on Risha
BJP Mandai Bazaar Mandal organized a protest rally against Opposition Leader and CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury over his remarks on the traditional Risha. BJP leaders accused him of insulting tribal culture, stressing that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honored the Risha. They also alleged that CPI(M) has never respected or worked for the welfare of indigenous communities.

Mandai, Tripura – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest rally on Thursday in Mandai against recent remarks made by Jitendra Choudhury, Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly and CPI(M) State Secretary, regarding the traditional Risha attire of the indigenous communities.
The protest rally was organized under the banner of BJP Mandai Bazaar Mandal. Leading the demonstration were Mandal President Abhijit Debbarma, General Secretary Sanjay Debbarma, along with several party workers and supporters.
The BJP leaders alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honored Risha by wearing it on his head and around his neck on various occasions, symbolizing respect for tribal culture. However, they accused Jitendra Choudhury, despite being a member of the tribal community himself, of insulting the traditional attire.
The BJP further claimed that the CPI(M) has never worked for the welfare of the indigenous people and has consistently failed to respect tribal culture and traditions.
