In a major development ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Election 2026, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) is reportedly set to contest the election independently without forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to secret sources, the party plans to field candidates in 8 constituencies. Around 5 to 6 candidates are expected to file their nominations on March 24 at about 1 PM, while the remaining candidates may submit their nominations the following day. However, official confirmation from the party is still awaited.
Agartala, March 23: In a significant political development ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Election 2026, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) is reportedly preparing to contest independently without forming any alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to confidential sources, IPFT is planning to field candidates in a total of eight constituencies in the upcoming TTAADC election. The move signals a possible shift in political strategy as the party gears up to strengthen its independent presence in the council polls.
Sources further revealed that five to six IPFT candidates are expected to file their nomination papers on March 24 at around 1:00 PM. The remaining candidates are likely to submit their nominations a day later.
Although the information has emerged from internal sources, there has been no official confirmation from the party leadership yet. Political observers believe that if the decision is finalized, it could influence the electoral dynamics of the TTAADC polls.
