Series of Welfare Initiatives Organized in Shantirbazar for PM's Birthday: Minister Felicitates Sanitation Workers, Distributes Fruits at Hospital

Shantirbazar, September 17: A series of community service and social welfare programs were organized in Shantirbazar on Wednesday to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday as part of the nationwide 'Seva Mera Yogdan' initiative.
As part of the celebrations, the South Tripura District Administration spearheaded a district-level launching of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign around 10:00 AM in front of the Shantirbazar Mukut Auditorium. The central themes for this year's initiative were "Swachhata Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cleanliness) and "Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat" (Clean India, Developed India).
State Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deepak Dutta attended as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Sudhangshu Das highlighted the vital importance of cleanliness in daily life, stating: "Cleanliness itself is service, and cleanliness is the truest form of devotion to the nation. To realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Clean India, everyone must work together in unity." He also urged citizens to light a 'Aashirwad Pradeep' (blessing lamp) at their homes in the evening to pray for the Prime Minister’s health and longevity.
The event witnessed a heartfelt moment when local sanitation workers—who keep Shantirbazar clean every day through door-to-door waste collection—were formally felicitated. Each worker was honored with a commemorative cup under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' initiative in recognition of their dedicated service.
Following the main program, Minister Sudhangshu Das visited Shantirbazar District Hospital, where he met with admitted patients and distributed fruits and sweets.
