A Leader’s Promise, A People’s Prayer: David Murasing Crosses Churaibari for Tripuri's Cause
Youth leader David Murasing has begun a foot march from Agartala, Tripura, to Delhi on July 5, demanding Greater Tipraland and action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Hundreds of Tipra Motha supporters gathered emotionally at Churaibari, Tripura's last border point, to see him off. After a brief farewell event, Murasing entered Assam, continuing his 2,500 km journey to bring Tipra Motha's demands directly to the central government. The march reflects long-standing unmet demands and growing frustration among the Tiprasa community.
In a significant political move, David Murasing, a youth leader and Zonal Chairman of Tipra Motha, has begun a foot march from Tripura's capital Agartala to Delhi. His march is aimed at pressing for the long-standing demand for Greater Tipraland and urging the central government to take concrete action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in Tripura and across India.
Murasing commenced his journey on July 5 from Agartala. On Saturday afternoon, hundreds of Tipra Motha workers gathered at Churaibari, Tripura’s last border point before Assam, to see him off and offer encouragement. Among those present to show their support were Tipra Motha MLA and Deputy Minister of Tripura Legislative Assembly Brishaketu Debbarma, Raima Valley MLA Nandita Debbarma, Executive Member Runel Debbarma, TTAADC Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, MDC Dhirendra Debbarma from Damcherra Kachucherra, MDC Saudagar Kalai from Ampinagar, and Executive Member Kamal Kalai, along with numerous party workers and supporters.
After a brief program at Churaibari, David Murasing entered Assam to continue his journey towards Delhi.
It is worth noting that Tipra Motha’s demand for Greater Tipraland — seeking more rights and provisions for the indigenous Tiprasa community — has been pending for around 18 months without implementation. Furthermore, Murasing highlighted that despite the central government's memorandum regarding the deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, no concrete steps have been taken in Tripura.
Speaking to reporters, David Murasing stated that as a citizen of India, he is determined to deliver Tipra Motha’s demands directly to the central government through this foot march. He aims to cover approximately 2,500 kilometers to reach Delhi. His departure from Tripura was marked by notable enthusiasm and support from hundreds of party leaders and workers gathered to bid him farewell.
