30-Hour Hunger Strike Held in Tripura Demanding Implementation of CM’s Rubber Mission Scheme
A 30-hour hunger strike was held on July 10, 2025, at Gandari (Amarpur–Udaipur Road) by JAC, DRMC, and JARC demanding implementation of the CM's Rubber Mission Scheme for 470 and 1,125 returnee families in Tripura.
Gandari, Amarpur | July 10, 2025 — A 30-hour hunger strike was organized today by the JAC, DRMC & JARC at Gandari along the Amarpur to Udaipur road in Gumati Tripura.
The peaceful protest began early this morning with hundreds of participants gathering to draw the government’s attention to key demands related to the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission Scheme, specifically targeting the rehabilitation and livelihood support for returnee families.
Charter of Demands:
- Immediate implementation of the CM’s Rubber Mission Scheme for 470 returnee families, who have been awaiting promised assistance under the scheme.
- Inclusion and support for an additional 1,125 returnees under the same project to facilitate sustainable rubber cultivation and ensure economic security.
Organizers expressed disappointment over repeated delays and alleged neglect by authorities in fulfilling prior assurances. They claimed that despite announcements, ground-level implementation has remained incomplete, forcing returnee families to survive without stable income.
"We are not demanding charity — we are asking for what was promised to us by the government under its own rubber mission project," said one of the protestors.
The JAC, DRMC, and JARC leaders warned that if their demands are not met soon, they will escalate the agitation and take the matter to the state capital and even the national level.
The hunger strike is expected to continue until midnight tomorrow unless a formal response is received from the state administration.
