Massive ₹81 Lakh TRLM Scam Uncovered in Silachari RD Block; Case Filed Against TRLM CC Sujit Kumar Reang and 12 Others
SILACHARI / KARBOOK: A massive financial fraud involving the alleged embezzlement of nearly ₹81 lakh under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) scheme has sparked widespread indignation across the Silachari Rural Development (RD) Block in the Karbook sub-division. A formal case has been registered at the Silachari Police Station against the prime suspect, Sujit Kumar Reang—along with 12 other individuals.
The case has been booked under Sections 314, 316(5), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) alongside Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act).
Systematic Diversion of Self-Help Group Funds
According to official case records, the accused systematically siphoned off ₹81 lakh originally allocated for the empowerment, development, and financial self-reliance of local Self-Help Group (SHG) women. Instead of utilizing the funds for community development initiatives, the money was allegedly transferred Indirectly Fake SHG Group’s into the personal bank accounts of the 13 accused individuals and subsequently withdrawn.
The complainant in the case has been identified as Laxmi Rani Chakma, a resident of Hejachhari.

- Moment Chakma
- Natun Rani Tripura
- Lokrasang Mog
- Nikulin Chakma

According to the complaint, specified amounts were wired to each of these individuals' accounts as part of a organized scheme to loot government funds.
Growing Anguish Among Local SHG Women
Following the revelation of the scam, distressed members of several local Self-Help Groups confronted the Block Development Officer (BDO) to register their protest. The women expressed deep frustration, highlighting that the theft of mission funds has brought development activities to a complete standstill, leaving working-class women in severe financial distress.
