Amid the growing strain in India–Bangladesh relations, a major and concerning incident has come to light in Udaipur, Tripura. At a time when security surveillance along the border has been intensified, police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from Udaipur, triggering fresh concerns over security and national interest among both the public and administrative circles.
Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy said that acting on specific intelligence inputs, police first arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from the Dhwaj Nagar area of Udaipur. During preliminary interrogation, the name of an Indian middleman surfaced. Following this lead, police conducted a raid and arrested the Indian agent from the Killa area. Police suspect that the agent was actively involved in facilitating illegal cross-border infiltration.
According to the police, cases will be registered against the arrested individuals under the Passport Act. At the same time, investigators are probing whether the accused were involved in any anti-India activities or had links to anti-national elements, including suspicious communications or activities on social media platforms. The mobile phones, social media accounts, and other digital data of the accused are currently being thoroughly examined.
Security experts believe that these arrests are highly significant given the sensitive phase of India–Bangladesh relations. As Tripura is a border state, such incidents of illegal infiltration naturally raise serious concerns. The administration has assured that no leniency will be shown when it comes to national security, and if further individuals are found to be involved, strict action will be taken against them.
