Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh Felicitated at Kochainala, Becomes Pride of Surma and the State
Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh, a resident of the remote Kochainala village under Kamalpur Surma, was felicitated on Thursday by the Manipuri Residents of Kochainala at the Manipuri Nat Mandir. The ceremony was attended by local MLA Swapna Das Pal as the chief guest along with other dignitaries. After completing his graduation in 2008, Kamaljit Singh joined the Indian Army and, following 17 years and 5 months of dedicated service, was commissioned as a Lieutenant on 06 December 2025. Speakers at the event praised his achievement as a matter of pride for the entire state and highlighted him as an inspiration for young people.
On Thursday, a felicitation ceremony was organized by the Manipuri Residents of Kochainala at the Manipuri Nat Mandir of Kochainala, Kamalpur Surma, to honor Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh.
On this occasion, the local MLA, Swapna Das (Pal), was present as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present at the program included Anadi Sarkar, Co–Sabhadhipati of the Dhalai District Council; Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh himself; his father K. H. Thokchom Kamini Singh; his mother Thokchom Kulabati Singh; retired senior ex-army personnel K. Suren Singh, among others. The program was presided over by senior citizen of Kochainala area, Dhananjay Singh.

Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh is the son of K. H. Thokchom Kamini Singh, a resident of the remote Kochainala village of Surma and belonging to the Manipuri Meitei community. After completing his graduation in 2008, he joined the Indian Army. After serving with discipline for a continuous period of 17 years and 5 months, Kamaljit Singh was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army on 06/12/2025.
As soon as the news spread, a wave of happiness swept across the Kamalpur subdivision. Everyone felt proud of Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh. On Thursday, he was felicitated in a grand manner.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, MLA Swapna Das Pal said that Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh is not only a pride for them but for the entire state. From a small village under the Surma Assembly constituency, Kamaljit Singh studied and rose to become a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. Today, he stands as an inspiration for young boys and girls of the village.
In his speech, Lieutenant Kamaljit Singh said that if one works with focus, discipline, and dedication, success is inevitable and one will surely achieve greatness one day.
