While they were on their way to Khowai in two auto-rickshaws, local residents at Sombaria Bazar became suspicious and detained them. Upon receiving the information, the Officer-in-Charge of Champahaor Police Station, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, and local BSF jawans rushed to the spot.
For a long time, the local people refused to hand over the Bangladeshi nationals to the police.
