Baishnabpur to Magroom Road

South Tripura, 15 July 2025 —Continuous heavy rainfall has caused severe damage to the Baishnabpur to Magroom road in Subroom subdivision, completely disrupting public transportation and communication between the two key localities. According to local reports, the road has been rendered unfit for any kind of vehicle movement, leaving hundreds of residents cut off from essential services, markets, and emergency healthcare.

This route serves as a lifeline for Magroom residents, connecting them to Subroom town and other nearby areas. As of today, there is no alternative road functioning to bypass the affected stretch.

Locals have expressed deep concern, highlighting that the government’s response and repair work in such situations are historically slow. In many previous instances, damaged roads in the region remained untouched for weeks or even months, forcing people to either travel long detours on foot or remain isolated.

One Magroom resident shared,
"The government is aware, but we don't know if they will act quickly this time. We are already suffering — no vehicles, no emergency services, nothing."

Despite rising frustration, no official statement has been issued yet by the South Tripura District Administration regarding the timeline for road restoration. Public sentiment is leaning toward scepticism, with many believing that they might once again be left waiting for an indefinite period.

Social workers and local community leaders have called for immediate intervention, warning that delays could worsen not only the connectivity crisis but also access to food, medicine, and other essentials.

While machinery and labour have reportedly been mobilized in nearby areas, the actual commencement of repair work on the Baishnabpur–Magroom stretch is yet to be confirmed.

For now, residents must rely on hope — as some say,
"Whether the government acts quickly or people must suffer longer, only time will tell."
