"Double Standards Fully Exposed": LoP Jitendra Choudhury Launches Blistering Attack on Tipra Motha
LoP Jitendra Choudhury Slams Tipra Motha Over "Political Duplicity" • The Attack: CPIM State Secretary and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Choudhury launched a sharp political offensive against Tipra Motha, accusing the party of blatant opportunism and "double standards." • Core Grievance: Choudhury asserted that Tipra Motha has completely abandoned its core ideological commitments and promises made to the indigenous populace to serve its own political convenience. • The Exposure: According to the LoP, the general public and the indigenous communities have now fully realized the party's shifting political stances and dual character. • Grassroots Failure: The CPIM leader highlighted that while Tipra Motha engages in political posturing, crucial rural issues like employment scarcity, ration disruptions, and delayed social security pensions remain completely unaddressed.
AGARTALA: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury has launched a sharp political offensive against the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (Tipra Motha), asserting that the party's "double standards" and political duplicity stand fully exposed before the people of Tripura.
Choudhury stated that both the indigenous tribal populace and the general public have grown to completely understand Tipra Motha's shifting political stances and opportunism. He argued that the regional party has fundamentally failed to stand by its core ideological commitments and the promises it initially made to the community.
Allegations of Political Opportunism
Addressing the media, the veteran CPI(M) leader leveled heavy criticism against Tipra Motha’s supreme leadership, alleging that the party has repeatedly altered its political positioning for convenience. He pointed out that while Tipra Motha rose to prominence on the unyielding demand for a separate state ("Greater Tipraland"), its subsequent legislative actions and alignment with the ruling establishment reveal a deep contradiction.
"The dual character of Tipra Motha is no longer hidden from anyone," Choudhury remarked. "They frequently adopt an aggressive, critical posture against the ruling BJP in public spaces to keep their support base intact, yet they remain deeply embedded within the ruling coalition, prioritizing personal interests over public concerns."
Failure to Address Grassroots Realities
Choudhury further argued that this political maneuvering has directly hurt ordinary citizens, particularly in the rural and indigenous pockets of the state. According to the Leader of the Opposition, while regional leaders engage in political theater, the basic socio-economic fabric of the state is deteriorating. He highlighted several key failures at the grassroots level:
- Rural Employment: Critical shortage of adequate work opportunities under central and state rural employment guarantee schemes.
- Public Distribution: Disruption in the regular supply of essential commodities across local ration shops.
- Social Security: Significant delays in the disbursement of routine social welfare pensions to vulnerable populations.
The CPIM State Secretary noted that the growing public dissatisfaction across the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and the wider state is a direct consequence of this perceived betrayal of ideology. He concluded by asserting that the public is closely watching these shifts and is preparing to respond democratively to what he termed a total compromise of the indigenous movement’s original struggle.
