Worker From Bihar Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Reversing Dumper; Driver Absconding

A Bihar-based gas pipeline worker, Shyam Das (38), was critically injured after being hit by a reversing dumper truck (TR01AT-1821) near Celtax Bypass under Churaibari Police Station. The truck’s rear wheel ran over his waist, causing severe fractures and heavy bleeding. Fire service personnel rescued him, and he was first taken to Kadamtala Social Hospital before being shifted to Silchar for advanced treatment. The dumper driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have launched an investigation.

A worker from outside the state suffered severe injuries after being struck by a reversing dumper truck on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place around 12 PM near the Celtax Bypass area under Churaibari Police Station.

According to reports, the labourer—engaged in gas pipeline work on the Silchar–Agartala route—was standing behind a dumper truck (registration number TR01AT-1821) when the driver attempted to reverse the vehicle. The truck hit him forcefully, and its rear wheel ran over his waist, causing a serious fracture and heavy bleeding. The victim collapsed on the National Highway immediately after the impact.

Eyewitnesses informed the Kadamtala Fire Service, following which fire personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured man. He was initially taken to Kadamtala Social Hospital and later referred to Silchar for advanced treatment. Fellow workers accompanying him said his condition remains critical.

The injured worker has been identified as Shyam Das (38), son of Ramsukhit Das, a resident of Bheli village, Madhubani district, Bihar. He was employed under Shivshakti Construction.

Meanwhile, after the accident, the truck driver abandoned the dumper and fled the scene. Police have seized the vehicle and are investigating the incident.
