Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia Memorial Football Tournament 2025 Kicks Off in Amarpur
The Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia Memorial Football Tournament 2025 began today at Debbari SB School Ground in Amarpur. Organised by the Chubachu Foundation, the event promotes sports among Tribal youth and spreads awareness on drug-free and HIV/AIDS-free living. A total of 20 teams are competing in a knockout format. Amarpur MLA Ranjit Das inaugurated the event, with several prominent guests in attendance. The tournament honours the legacy of Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia, known for protecting Tiprasa culture.

The Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia Memorial Football Tournament 2025 kicked off today at the Debbari SB School Ground in Amarpur–Debbari. Organised by the Chubachu Foundation, the tournament aims to motivate Tribal youth to engage in sports and spread awareness about a drug-free and HIV/AIDS-free society.
The event is supported by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports (TTAADC), Swarnakamal Jewellers, the Tripura Tribal Research & Cultural Institute, ICA Tripura, the Tripura State AIDS Control Society, and several other organisations.
A total of 20 teams are participating, with the tournament being played in a knockout format.

1st Prize: ₹30,000 + Trophy

2nd Prize: ₹20,000 + Trophy
Amarpur MLA Ranjit Das inaugurated the event, praising the initiative for promoting Tribal-Bengali unity and encouraging youth involvement in sports.
Key guests included Swami Gaya Mani Jamatia of Santi Kali Ashram, members of Beni Chandra Jamatia’s family including Dr. Kahamnuk Jamatia, BAC Chairman Rabitra Jamatia, former Jamatia Hoda Kherpang Bishnu Sadhan Jamatia, and Village Chokdiri representatives.
Chubachu Foundation founder Kamal Jamatia stressed the importance of guiding Tribal youth toward growth through education and skill development.
Dr. Kahamnuk Jamatia highlighted the need to preserve the legacy and contributions of Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia, a cultural icon who worked tirelessly to protect Tiprasa traditions and Jamatia community identity.
With 22 teams competing, the tournament promises several days of exciting matches and strong community participation.
