A total of 280 Rignai were distributed at Jalaya VC under the 28-Manu Bankul TTAADC Constituency. Karbook Mandal President Ashim Tripura highlighted the cultural and welfare purpose of the event. MDC Kongjong Mog stated that the TTAADC government has released ₹25 lakh MDC Fund, and he chose to use the amount to directly support people with basic needs, including providing Rignai to beneficiaries.
Jalaya, 28-Manu Bankul:
A community-support programme was organised today at the Jalaya VC area under the 28-Manu Bankul TTAADC Constituency, where 280 Rignai — the traditional attire of Tiprasa women — were distributed to local beneficiaries. The event drew significant participation from villagers, especially women.
Karbook Mandal President Mr. Ashim Tripura said that the initiative aims to promote cultural identity while extending practical support to families. He expressed that the distribution reflects the commitment of local leadership towards grassroots welfare.
In the evening session, MDC Kongjong Mog addressed the gathering and informed that the TTAADC government has released ₹25 lakh MDC Fund for each elected MDC. He explained that while large development works such as road construction require amounts far beyond the allotted fund, he has prioritised direct benefits to the public.
“Roads and major projects cost more than ₹25 lakh, but I want this fund to touch people's lives directly. That is why I decided to distribute essential items. Rignai is not just clothing—it is a symbol of our culture, and supporting women with this is also a part of development,” MDC Mog said.
Residents appreciated the effort, noting that such programmes help preserve tradition while supporting those in need.
