A viral video on social media claims that Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is originally from Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria, as stated by one of his relatives. The video surfaced soon after similar allegations were made against Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, who has now filed an SC/ST case against media head Pranab Sarkar. Meanwhile, Pranab Sarkar also filed a countercase, saying the truth about “citizenship and doubtful identity” will come out in court. CM Dr. Manik Saha is Bangladeshi

A video is going viral on social media claiming that Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is a Bangladeshi citizen.
The statement has reportedly been made by one of his relatives from Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh.
Let’s take a look at the details.

This video started circulating shortly after Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma was accused by various newspapers, TV channels, and social media posts of being a citizen of Bangladesh.
MLA Ranjit Debbarma also responded to the matter on social media.

Ranjit Debbarma said —
“Many Bangladeshi voter ID cards have gone viral on social media, including those allegedly linked to our current Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former Chief Minister and current West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb, and several other political leaders of Tripura.
Then why am I being targeted alone?
This is being done purely on a communal basis.”

In connection with this matter, MLA Ranjit Debbarma has filed a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act at Agartala West Police Station.
On the other hand, Headlines Tripura chief and Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar has also filed a case against MLA Ranjit Debbarma.

Pranab Sarkar said —
“The truth will be revealed in court — whether Ranjit Debbarma’s claim is true or our news report regarding citizenship and doubtful identity.”

He further added —
“Everyone knows who Ranjit Debbarma is. When he was the Commander-in-Chief of ATTF, several incidents took place, many of which are still recorded in police files. His camp was also based in Bangladesh.”

The issue has now created a new political storm in Tripura,
where, on one hand, allegations have been raised against the Chief Minister,
and on the other, a legal battle continues between a sitting MLA and a media head.
