A major sting operation conducted on 19 July 2025 has exposed a growing network of illegal infiltration in Pratapgarh Assembly Constituency, situated in the heart of Tripura’s capital, Agartala. The revelation has sent shockwaves across the state, raising urgent questions about national security, governance failure, and demographic manipulation.

According to credible sources, multiple Bangladeshi nationals, including a man named Sadhan Das, have illegally entered India after 2020 and are now residing permanently in Nath Para, Booth No. 19, Ward No. 42, Subhash Nagar. These individuals have purchased land, constructed permanent homes, and astonishingly obtained Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and other official Indian documents — all without ration cards or Indian citizenship certificates.

A hidden camera sting video filmed by an investigative reporter has surfaced, showing one of the infiltrators openly admitting that they are Bangladeshi citizens and not Indians. The video clip has gone viral across social media platforms and local news channels, triggering public outrage.

Despite Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s prior directives to crack down on illegal immigrants, the incident highlights ongoing inaction by local elected representatives and administrative officials. Shockingly, reports suggest that Mandal-level leaders in the area are shielding these infiltrators, allegedly offering political protection in exchange for future votes.

Local residents are demanding:

  • Immediate cancellation of all fake documents

  • Identification and deportation of illegal immigrants

  • Legal action against those aiding or protecting infiltrators

  • A review of all Aadhaar and voter ID registrations in the constituency

Several residents also voiced concern that original Indian citizens are losing out on employment opportunities, while illegal immigrants are reportedly working in key sectors, including as doctors, engineers, and even in defense-related services by using forged identities.

This infiltration incident has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing illegal immigration crisis in Tripura, a state long vulnerable due to its porous international border with Bangladesh. It also underlines the urgent need for document verification audits and stronger enforcement mechanisms to safeguard both citizen rights and national integrity.

The matter is now drawing attention from central authorities, and it remains to be seen whether swift and exemplary action will be taken — or if the issue will be buried under political protection once again.
