Police Recover ₹22.5 Lakh in Silachari TRLM Scam Investigation
The police investigation into the alleged ₹82 lakh TRLM fund misappropriation at Silachari RD Block has expanded, with several individuals under scrutiny. Authorities have reportedly recovered ₹22.5 lakh and are also examining allegations that some of the funds were used for illegal cannabis cultivation in Mohanpur, West Tripura. The investigation into the alleged financial irregularities under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) at Silachari RD Block has reportedly taken a significant turn, with investigators probing new allegations related to the misuse of public funds and possible illegal activities.
According to confidential sources, the alleged embezzlement involving TRLM Cluster Community Coordinators (CCs) is estimated at around ₹82 lakh. The prime accused, Sujit Reang, is alleged to have indirectly received approximately ₹48 lakh through transactions involving other individuals.
Sources further claimed that Kongjari Mog, a professional car driver, and Mimi Chakma are among the key individuals under investigation in connection with the alleged financial transactions.
Police sources indicate that approximately ₹22.5 lakh has so far been recovered during the course of the investigation. However, officials have not yet released detailed information regarding the recovery.
Investigators are also examining allegations that a portion of the misappropriated funds may have been used to finance illegal cannabis cultivation in the Mohanpur area of West Tripura district. Authorities are reportedly verifying these claims, and no official confirmation has yet been issued regarding the alleged cultivation.
Apart from the names of Beauty Mog, Moment Chakma, Lakra Chai Mog, and Nutan Rani Tripura have also surfaced during the ongoing investigation.
According to sources, the investigation has now widened to include eight additional TRLM Cluster members, with police scrutinizing financial records, bank transactions, and other documentary evidence.
The case has attracted considerable public attention in the Silachari and Karbook areas, where residents have demanded a transparent investigation and strict legal action against anyone found responsible for misappropriation of government funds.
Police officials have stated that the investigation is continuing and that further arrests or recoveries may take place depending on the evidence collected. Authorities have urged the public not to draw conclusions until the investigation is completed and all facts are established in court.
