Late-Night Tragedy in Chirakuti: High-Speed Innova Crash Kills Four, Including TSR Jawaan
In a devastating late-night road accident in Chirakuti, Tripura, four people lost their lives when a speeding Innova car collided with a stationary police vehicle. The tragic incident occurred around 12:00 AM on Wednesday night, causing shock and mourning throughout the region.
The accident involved an Innova vehicle (registration number TR-02-M-0599) that was reportedly travelling at a high speed from the Kumarghat side. The police vehicle was parked at the side of the road due to a flat tyre. TSR (Tripura State Rifles) jawans were in the process of changing the tyre when the Innova lost control and rammed directly into the team.
The impact was so severe that TSR jawan Milon Debbarma was hit first, after which the Innova slammed into the police vehicle. All victims were rushed to the Unakoti District Hospital, but doctors declared all four dead on arrival. The deceased were identified as:
-
Sajjad Ali, the driver and owner of the Innova car, resident of Bhagaban Nagar.
-
Akhtar Ali, passenger, also from Bhagaban Nagar.
-
Banbir Shabdakar, another passenger.
-
Milon Debbarma, TSR personnel from Khowai district.
Eyewitnesses described the collision as extremely violent. According to them, the Innova showed no signs of slowing down before impact, raising serious concerns about the driver's speed and alertness. The fact that the accident occurred at midnight has raised suspicions in the minds of locals. Some have questioned why the vehicle was travelling at such high speed during late hours and whether it was engaged in any illegal activities.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Locals are demanding a deeper probe into the background of the occupants of the Innova and whether the vehicle was being used for smuggling or other unlawful purposes.
Following the incident, a deep sense of grief has gripped the Chirakuti area. Local residents and family members of the deceased are mourning the loss, especially of TSR jawan Milon Debbarma, who died in the line of duty.
The state administration is expected to announce compensation for the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, authorities have urged drivers to strictly adhere to road safety norms, particularly during night travel.
