North Tripura Police Crack Ichai Lalchhara Robbery Case; Eight Arrested So Far, Arms and Stolen Goods Seized
The North Tripura police have made a major breakthrough in the recent armed robbery at Ichai Lalchhara village under Kadamtala Police Station by arresting five more members of a dangerous dacoity gang, taking the total number of arrests to eight. The arrests were made after an intensive operation that also led to the recovery of a large haul of illegal arms, ammunition, cash, looted gold and silver ornaments, mobile phones, and Bangladeshi SIM cards.
The robbery, which occurred late on July 26, targeted the home of Subrata Kumar Eshe, where armed criminals looted valuables and fled. A case was registered under IPC sections 331(4) and 309(4). Following the initial arrests of Kampu Shukla Das and Jamir Ali, police interrogation led to the capture of gang leader Selim Uddin. Based on further leads, a massive raid was conducted across Dharmanagar Subdivision, resulting in the arrest of five more culprits.
Among the arrested are Pangkhi Mia, Abdul Kayes, Roshan Ali, Enam Uddin, and Rahim Ali. Police also seized a country-made gun, seven live cartridges, sharp weapons, Army/BSF uniforms, and other stolen goods.
The accused will be produced before the court as police seek remand to uncover possible interstate connections and more gang members. Superintendent of Police Abinash Rai confirmed that the crackdown on organized crime will continue.
