Kamalpur Police Recover Nearly 30 Kg Cannabis During Naka Checking

Acting on confidential information, Kamalpur Police intercepted a Ford vehicle and reportedly recovered 29.8 kg of cannabis during a search. The driver was taken into custody, while investigators are trying to determine the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics.

KAMALPUR: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Kamalpur Police seized around 29.8 kg of cannabis from a Ford private vehicle during checking at the Durgachowmuhani naka point.

Police said the action followed confidential information regarding the suspected transportation of narcotics. The vehicle was reportedly intercepted while travelling from Sidhai-Mohanpur towards Assam.

During the search, officers allegedly recovered the cannabis from inside the vehicle. Police said no other person was travelling in the car apart from the driver, who was detained in connection with the seizure.

The recovered contraband and the vehicle were subsequently seized by the police. The detained driver is being questioned as investigators seek to establish where the cannabis was allegedly sourced and where it was intended to be transported.

A case has reportedly been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug transportation.

Kamalpur SDPO Saurav Sen was present during the operation, while SI Kapil Pal provided details regarding the police action.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
