Durga Puja Preparations: Khowai Police Issue Security and Traffic Guidelines
Khowai Police held a meeting with representatives of 95 Durga Puja committees ahead of the festival. Discussions focused on law and order, CCTV surveillance, traffic management, fire safety, women and child safety, loudspeaker restrictions, anti-drug measures and idol immersion arrangements.

KHOWAI: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, Khowai Police held a coordination meeting with local puja committees and club representatives to review security arrangements and ensure smooth traffic movement during the festival.
The meeting, organised at Khowai Police Station, brought together representatives of 95 puja committees under the jurisdiction of the police station.
During the meeting, organisers were advised to secure the required permissions before beginning puja-related activities. Police also emphasised the need for CCTV surveillance at pandals and nearby areas to improve monitoring and help prevent untoward incidents.
Puja committees were instructed to ensure that roads remain clear and that there is no forced collection of donations on national highways or other important roads. Maintaining smooth traffic flow was highlighted as a key responsibility during the festival.
Officials also reminded organisers about restrictions on loudspeaker use and directed them to stop loudspeaker use after 10 pm.
Several other safety issues were discussed, including protection of women and children, fire-prevention measures, preventing drug-related activities and proper planning for idol immersion.
Police and puja organisers were urged to maintain regular communication and coordination throughout the festival so that any emergency or law-and-order issue can be handled quickly.
The meeting was chaired by the SDPO of Khowai and attended by the Khowai Police Station OC, Subhash Park Police Outpost OC and representatives of the local puja committees.
