AGARTALA: A written complaint has been submitted to the East Agartala Police Station and forwarded to the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against two individuals—Sri Tomal Sinha Roy and Sri Biki Dhanuka—for alleged extortion, criminal intimidation, coercion, and misuse of a signed cheque.

The complainant, identified as Bodhisatta Roy, an employee working under Smt. Sanghamitra Mukherjee, Chairperson of Tripureswari Micro Finance, alleged that the accused persons initially contacted him on September 20, 2026, posing as presspersons to discuss the organization’s affairs. According to the complaint, an initial meeting took place the following day near Jagannath Mandir in Agartala.

The complainant stated that on the afternoon of September 21, the accused demanded an illegal payment of ₹5,00,000 from the organization near Kalyani Water Supply, threatening serious consequences if the demand was not met. Later that evening, near Women’s College, Agartala, the accused allegedly coerced the complainant into handing over a blank signed Canara Bank cheque (Cheque No. 001378233913) filled for an amount of ₹3,00,000 in the name of Sri Kinkar Roy.

The complaint further details that the cheque was subsequently presented for encashment and bounced, causing serious apprehension of ongoing misuse and harassment. Additionally, the complainant alleged that on September 26, 2026, defamatory and misleading reports regarding himself and Sri Shaibal Dhar were published across social media channels, including "Tripura Opinion" and "Muddakhata," to exert further pressure.

The complainant has urged police authorities to register an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, collect CCTV footage from the locations mentioned, seize the cheque, examine witnesses, and conduct a fair and prompt investigation into the matter. The matter was formally submitted to the police on September 29, 2026, and forwarded to the SP Office, West Tripura, on October 2, 2026.
