JAC Civil Society Slams Tripura CM’s Remarks on Reang Community
The JAC Civil Society criticized Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha’s remarks about the Reang community, calling them unacceptable and demanding clarification.
Agartala, Oct 12: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Civil Society, Tripura has strongly criticized Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s recent remarks regarding the Reang community. The organization condemned the statement, saying it was unacceptable and deeply hurtful to the indigenous people of Tripura.
Addressing the issue, Shri Birendra Tripura, Advisory Member of the Joint Action Committee of Civil Society and representative of Tripura Dopha, said, “We are fighting against the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Tripura. How can the Chief Minister say that the Reang community came from Bangladesh? Such statements undermine the identity and struggle of the indigenous people of this land.”
The JAC reiterated that the movement “Amra Bangali” does not represent the true interests of Tripura’s indigenous population and accused it of creating division within the state. The organization demanded that the Chief Minister clarify his comments and ensure respect for all tribal communities.
