Awareness Campaign on Child Marriage, Drug Abuse, and Gender Equality Held at Karbook
An awareness campaign on Child Marriage, Drug Abuse, and Gender Equality was held on November 3 at Buiragi Dukan, East Manikya Dewan VC, under Karbook RD Block, Karbook Sub-Division. The event was organized by TRLM and Karbook CLF to promote social awareness and community participation. Present at the program were CLF President Pinjori Reang, CLF Secretary Mani Mala Tripura, Dr. Dhana Mani Tripura (SDMO, Karbook), social activist Bishal Debbarma, Headmaster Sri Binoy Chakma of Prahallad Sardar Para HS School, students, guardians, and SHG members. Speakers emphasized the need to prevent child marriage, stop drug abuse, and promote gender equality for a healthy and progressive society.

An extensive awareness campaign focusing on Child Marriage, Drug Abuse, and Gender Equality was organized on November 3 at the Community Hall of Buiragi Dukan, East Manikya Dewan VC, under Karbook R D Block in Karbook Sub-Division. The program was jointly organized by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), Karbook CLF, and supported by various community groups.
The event aimed to sensitize local communities, especially students and Self Help Group (SHG) members, about the harmful impact of child marriage and substance abuse, and to promote equality between men and women for a stronger society.
The program was graced by several dignitaries including CLF President Pinjori Reang, CLF Secretary Mani Mala Tripura, all RPM members of Karbook CLF and Ratna Among the special guests were Dr. Dhana Mani Tripura, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO), Karbook, noted social activist Bishal Debbarma, and Headmaster of Prahallad Sardar Para HS School, Sri Binoy Chakma, along with teachers, students, guardians, and members of various SHGs.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of education and awareness in eradicating child marriage and drug addiction from society. They also stressed the need to uphold gender equality and empower women through education and livelihood programs.
“Child marriage and drug abuse are social evils that destroy lives and futures. Awareness and education are our strongest tools to fight them,” said Karbook CLF Secretary Mani Mala Tripura,.
Dr. Dhana Mani Tripura spoke about the health risks associated with drug abuse and early marriage, encouraging the youth to focus on studies and health.
“When our young generation is healthy, educated, and gender-aware, our society automatically progresses,” he added.
The program concluded with interactive sessions, cultural performances, and a community pledge to support a drug-free, gender-equal, and child-marriage-free Karbook. Organizers from TRLM and Karbook CLF expressed gratitude to all participants and vowed to continue similar awareness drives across the subdivision.
