In a shocking incident on July 27, more than seven Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were injured during a violent attack allegedly carried out by Tipra Motha-backed miscreants at Asaram Bari in Khowai district, Tripura. According to a report by IndiaToday NE's Facebook page, the attack occurred while the BJP was organizing a local screening of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program at booth number 30.
The attackers reportedly used sharp weapons, lathis, and hurled bricks at BJP workers, resulting in serious injuries and widespread panic. Several vehicles, including cars and bikes belonging to BJP supporters, were vandalised in the assault.
BJP Mandal President Jayanta Debbarma confirmed the attack and claimed that nearly 100 unruly youths linked to the Tipra Motha Party were involved. The incident has sparked major political tension, especially as the BJP and Tipra Motha are currently in an alliance in the state government.
This unexpected violence raises serious questions about internal coordination and trust within the coalition. As investigations continue, political analysts suggest this may strain the alliance and alter the state’s political landscape. The state administration has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
