Khowai, August 23: In a significant operation, Khowai Police detained three Bangladeshi nationals in the Singichhara area while they were allegedly attempting to enter India illegally. Police have also arrested a person suspected of facilitating their movement as part of a human trafficking network.

According to police sources, the detained individuals have been identified as Ripon Talukdar (40), a resident of Firozpur in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh, Sujata Talukdar (32), and a minor.

Police arrested Priya Lal Sarkar (32) in connection with the suspected trafficking operation. He is reportedly the son of Shashi Mohan Sarkar and a resident of the Ramnagar Shilpara Landless Colony area.

During the operation, police also seized a vehicle bearing registration number TR01BC0751. Investigators suspect that the vehicle was being used to transport the individuals who had allegedly entered or attempted to enter India illegally.

The detained persons and the arrested suspect are currently being questioned as part of the investigation. Police are also probing whether additional people were involved in facilitating the alleged cross-border movement and whether the case has links to a wider trafficking network.

Authorities said further information will be available once the investigation progresses.
