Suryamaninagar ‘Janata Milan Mela’ Highlights Women’s Power and Message of Social Harmony

AGARTALA: A festive gathering titled ‘Janata Milan Mela Utsav 2026’ was organised in Suryamaninagar ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja and Kali Puja celebrations.

The programme was organised by the Mandal Committee and Mahila Morcha of the 18 Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency at the Malay Nagar Bypass Housing Complex ground. People from different sections of the area participated in the event.

Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker and Suryamaninagar MLA Ramprasad Pal, Pradesh BJP Vice-President Tapas Bhattacharjee, Mahila Morcha President Mousumi Das and State BJP Secretary Kamal Dey were among those present, along with other party leaders and workers.

Speaking at the programme, Ramprasad Pal described Maa Durga and Maa Kali as symbols of motherly power and women’s strength. He said the festive season carries a broader message of the victory of good over evil and the spread of peace and harmony.

Pal said the women of Suryamaninagar should also be recognised as symbols of strength and empowerment. He said the gathering was intended to honour women while creating an opportunity for people from different sections of society to come together.

With the festive season approaching, Pal appealed to residents to celebrate Durga Puja and Kali Puja in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood.

He called for people from all communities and sections of society to participate in the celebrations without discrimination and urged everyone to avoid division, hatred and discord.

The programme also highlighted the importance of women's dignity, participation and contribution to society. According to the organisers, the event combined festive celebration with a message of social unity, women's empowerment and peaceful coexistence.
