UDAIPUR: An auto-rickshaw driver in Udaipur has received appreciation from local residents after returning a passenger's lost bag containing around ₹80,000 in cash.
The driver, Akhtar Hossain, reportedly found the bag on the back seat of his auto-rickshaw while cleaning the vehicle on Sunday morning.
The bag had reportedly been left behind by businessman Ratan Sutradhar of Melaghar, who had travelled from Ramesh Chowmuhani to Kakraban Motor Stand in the auto-rickshaw on Saturday night. After reaching his destination, he reportedly got down without noticing that his bag remained inside the vehicle.
While checking the bag, Akhtar reportedly found a phone number that helped him contact the owner. He subsequently informed Sutradhar that his lost bag had been found.
Sutradhar travelled to Udaipur on Sunday morning to collect the bag. At around 9 am, Akhtar handed it over to him at the Rajarbag-Garjanmura auto-rickshaw stand in the presence of local workers and auto-rickshaw drivers.
Local people praised Akhtar for choosing to return the cash instead of keeping it for himself. They said the incident highlights the importance of honesty and moral values irrespective of a person's profession or financial circumstances.
The incident has emerged as a positive example of integrity and community spirit in Udaipur.
