David Murasing Raises Questions Over Tribal Representation in Youth Affairs Committee
TTAADC MDC David Murasing has raised concerns over the alleged absence of Scheduled Tribe representation in a committee under Tripura’s Youth Affairs and Sports Department. He has called for the committee to be reformed and for adequate tribal representation, warning of a larger movement if the issue is not addressed.
AGARTALA: TTAADC MDC David Murasing has raised concerns over the composition of a committee under the Tripura Government’s Youth Affairs and Sports Department, alleging that Scheduled Tribe representatives from Tripura have not been included.
According to Murasing, the committee submitted on September 25, 2026, does not have representation from the Scheduled Tribe community. He said the alleged absence of tribal representation raises questions about the participation and role of indigenous communities in the committee.
Murasing has urged the state government to review and reform the committee and ensure appropriate representation of Scheduled Tribe members. He also called for tribal representatives to be given an appropriate leadership role, including the chairperson’s position where applicable.
The MDC warned that failure to address the issue could lead to a larger democratic movement over what he described as questions of representation, dividend and role policy.
Murasing said the matter should be resolved through dialogue and adequate representation. The state government’s response to the allegations was not available at the time of reporting.
