Abandoned Vehicle Leads Police to 14 Kg Ganja Seizure in Mungiakami

Mungiakami Police in Tripura’s Khowai district recovered 14 kg of dry cannabis (ganja) from an abandoned vehicle during a night patrol and naka-checking operation. The vehicle was found parked on the roadside around midnight with no driver or owner present. A search conducted in the presence of the SDM led to the recovery of the cannabis, estimated to be worth ₹1.5–2 lakh. Police have seized the vehicle and registered an NDPS case, while an investigation is underway to identify those allegedly involved.

MUNGIakami, KHOWAI: Mungiakami Police have recovered 14 kg of dry cannabis from a vehicle found abandoned on the roadside during a night patrol operation.

Police officials said officers and staff were conducting night mobile patrolling and naka checking within the Mungiakami Police Station area when they noticed a vehicle that had remained parked for a considerable period.

With no driver or owner present, police reportedly waited for some time to see whether anyone would return to the vehicle. When nobody arrived, authorities proceeded with a search in the presence of the SDM and in accordance with NDPS Act procedures.

A bag was reportedly found inside the vehicle. Upon checking the bag, police recovered packets containing approximately 14 kg of dry cannabis.

The seized cannabis is estimated to have a market value of ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh. The vehicle has been taken into custody.

Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and launched an investigation to determine who owns the vehicle and who may be involved in the alleged transportation of the cannabis.
