Centre Moves to Fast-Track Tripura Accord; MHA Team Expected in State Next Week
The Centre is set to accelerate the implementation of the Tripartite Agreement in Tripura, with a high-level Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) delegation expected to visit the state next week. The team is likely to hold discussions with the Tripura government, TIPRA Motha and other stakeholders to review pending commitments. The visit follows a recent meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. Talks are expected to focus on resolving outstanding issues and preparing a time-bound roadmap for implementation.

Agartala: The Centre is likely to intensify the implementation process of the Tripartite Agreement in Tripura, with a high-level Ministry of Home Affairs delegation expected to arrive in the state next week.
According to sources, the delegation will hold consultations with the state government, TIPRA Motha representatives and other stakeholders to assess the current status of the agreement and review pending commitments.
The proposed visit comes shortly after a high-level meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. The meeting reportedly discussed ways to speed up the implementation of the agreement.
Signed in March 2024, the Tripartite Agreement was aimed at addressing a range of issues concerning Tripura’s indigenous population, including political, economic, social, cultural and constitutional concerns.
TIPRA Motha sources have reportedly attached significance to the MHA delegation's proposed visit, particularly as discussions are expected to move towards specific measures and deadlines for implementing outstanding commitments.
The development could mark a fresh phase in Centre-state discussions on indigenous issues in Tripura.
