A landslide struck the Tadong area of Gangtok late Thursday night following heavy rain. A video circulating online showed rocks, mud and debris crashing down the hillside, highlighting the intensity of the incident.
Meanwhile, fresh landslide activity was reported in vulnerable areas of Gyalshing district, prompting authorities to evacuate 128 people to safer locations as a precautionary measure.
Authorities are continuing to monitor vulnerable slopes and affected areas as rainfall persists. Residents in landslide-prone locations have been advised to remain cautious and follow official safety instructions.
