BSF Organises 12-Km State-Level Marathon ‘Spandan’ in Tripura

The BSF organised the 12-km state-level marathon ‘Spandan’ at its Sector Headquarters in Khasiamangal, Teliamura, promoting fitness, sports and healthy living. More than 250 participants from eight districts took part in the event, which was attended by BSF DIG Rajpal Singh, athlete Dipa Karmakar, Minister Bikash Debbarma and other officials.

Teliamura, Tripura: A 12-kilometre state-level marathon titled ‘Spandan’ was organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday morning at the BSF Sector Headquarters in Khasiamangal, Teliamura, with the aim of promoting physical fitness, healthy living and sports among the people.

More than 250 young men and women from eight districts of Tripura participated in the marathon across two categories. The event was formally flagged off from the BSF Sector Headquarters. The participants ran through various routes before returning to the headquarters to complete the 12-kilometre course.

The programme was attended by BSF DIG Rajpal Singh, renowned Tripura athlete Dipa Karmakar, Tripura’s Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, Khowai District Forest Officer and IFS officer Ashok Kumar, District Magistrate Rajat Pant, along with senior BSF officials and other distinguished guests.

The marathon generated considerable enthusiasm among participants who travelled from different parts of the state to take part in the event.

According to the BSF, the primary objective of ‘Spandan’ is to spread awareness about sports, physical fitness and healthy living among the general public while encouraging young people to adopt an active lifestyle.
