Article 2 — Road Accident Claims Life in South Tripura
One person was killed in a bus-bike collision at Betaga Signboard area under Santirbazar Police Station on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Dipankar Talukdar, a resident of Muhuripur.
SANTIRBAZAR: A 40-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a collision between a bus and a motorcycle at Betaga Signboard on Saturday.
The accident reportedly took place at approximately 1:25 PM on the National Highway near the college. Police and local sources said a bus travelling from Sabroom to Agartala collided with a motorcycle heading towards Muhuripur from Birchandranagar Market.
The motorcycle rider was reportedly thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Santirbazar responded to the accident and transported the injured rider to Santirbazar District Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the attending doctor declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Dipankar Talukdar, son of Nitai Talukdar of Muhuripur. He was reportedly 40 years old.
Santirbazar Police subsequently reached the accident site and launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.
The deceased's body has been kept at the Santirbazar morgue pending a post-mortem examination. The body is expected to be handed over to the family following completion of the necessary procedures.
