Allegations Raise Concerns Over Education Quality at Alotola S.B. School; Teacher Shortage and Other Serious Complaints Surface
Concerns have been raised over the quality of education at Alotola S.B. School in Patichhari, Karbook, with locals alleging irregular classes, mobile phone use during school hours, favoritism, administrative issues, and alleged misbehavior with students. The Head Teacher, Jagadish Marak, cited a shortage of teachers and additional government reporting duties as major challenges. The SMC committee and local residents have urged the Education Department and administration to investigate the complaints, ensure regular classes after the mid-day meal, and address the teacher shortage. Karbook, Gomati, Tripura: Concerns have been raised among local residents regarding the quality of education and overall functioning of Alotola S.B. School, located in Patichhari ADC Village under Karbook Sub-Division.
According to local residents, regular and proper teaching is not being conducted at the school, while some teachers are allegedly engaged in using mobile phones during class hours. Students have also alleged that a teacher named Aktar Hossain was involved in conducting personal business through a mobile phone during school hours. However, no official documents or independently verified evidence supporting this allegation have so far come to light.
There are also allegations of favoritism among locals concerning Tapas Pal, while Ranjit Debbarma has faced allegations regarding the proper management of the school's environment and administrative activities. Local complaints have also included allegations of misbehavior and physical assault involving students. However, these allegations have not yet been independently verified and require investigation by the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, the school's Head Teacher, Jagadish Marak, stated that teachers are currently engaged in various government-related duties. He said that reports including GP, EP, FP and PP have to be submitted by August 31, which is also adding to their workload. He further stated that the school is facing a shortage of teachers, resulting in additional responsibilities for the existing staff.
The Head Teacher said, “We are very interested in educating our students properly. But for this, we need more support from the government and adequate numbers of teachers.”
The SMC committee and local residents have demanded that the Education Department and administration investigate the school's educational system, ensure that regular classes continue even after the mid-day meal, and take urgent steps to address the shortage of teachers.
