Karbook–Bhagaban Tila Road Maintenance Work Raises Questions; Locals Demand Proper Quality Control

Karbook, Gomati, Tripura, August 24, 2026: Questions have been raised over the quality of ongoing maintenance work on the Karbook–Bhagaban Tila blacktop road under Karbook Sub-Division in Gomati district.

Local residents allege that maintenance and construction-related irregularities are taking place in different sectors of the subdivision. They claim that some works are allegedly carried out during night hours, making it difficult for local people to monitor the quality and materials being used.

Residents further alleged that some contractors may themselves be under pressure because of alleged interference by certain individuals who are reportedly seeking commissions from development works. However, these allegations have not been independently verified and require investigation by the competent authorities.

The issue has become a matter of concern among local people, particularly regarding the maintenance of the Karbook–Bhagaban Tila blacktop road. Residents say that if road maintenance is carried out without proper supervision and quality control, public money may be wasted and the road could deteriorate again within a short period.

Local people have therefore urged the PWD and concerned administration to conduct a proper field inspection, verify the quality of materials and workmanship, examine the maintenance process and take action if any irregularity is found.

Residents also appealed to the authorities to ensure that no local middlemen or alleged “mafia” elements are allowed to interfere with government development works. They said transparent monitoring and strict action against proven wrongdoing are essential for protecting public funds and ensuring genuine development in Karbook.

The people of the area have demanded that the authorities look into the matter seriously and ensure that road maintenance is completed according to the approved specifications and required quality standards.
