Imphal, July 4: The Manipur administration has begun ramping up infrastructure development and security measures in anticipation of a possible visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month. Though no official announcement has been made, senior officials have indicated that the visit could take place in the second or third week of July.

According to a senior security official, preparations are already in motion despite the absence of formal confirmation. “Nothing is official or on paper. However, sprucing up of functional helipads in two locations within the Imphal valley and one in Churachandpur is currently underway,” the official said. “If the Prime Minister visits, he will likely use a chopper to travel from the valley to the hills.”

In addition to helipad upgrades, the state administration has been directed to expedite completion of key infrastructure projects, including the new Manipur Secretariat buildings and the Manipur Police Headquarters in Mantripukri. Road repair and maintenance work is also being fast-tracked across Imphal valley and Churachandpur district, reflecting the urgency surrounding the visit.

While central and state authorities remain tight-lipped about the final schedule, the scale of the preparations suggests that an official announcement may soon follow.
