The government has assured that LPG supply is sufficient and authorities are taking action against illegal trading.

The NHIDCL highway project from Jatanbari to Karbook via Shilachhari to Sabroom is facing serious challenges as unknown groups allegedly demanded ₹3 crore and later ₹1 crore from the agency. NHIDCL refused to give in, continuing its work to improve connectivity. Meanwhile, heavy rains have damaged old roads, and soil from the new construction has created slippery conditions, causing accidents and frustration among locals. Experts assure that within 2–3 years, the national highway will permanently solve these recurring problems. While NHIDCL has faced criticism for slow progress and poor quality in Tripura, the project is seen as a lifeline for the region’s future development.

A delegation from Tipra Motha Party, led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and TTAADC CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India in New Delhi. They demanded a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Tripura’s electoral rolls—similar to the Bihar model—through a door-to-door verification process, especially in tribal areas. This comes amid concerns over illegal migrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar being included in the voter list.

CEM Jamatia confirmed that the CEC has assured a nationwide review, including in Tripura. Meanwhile, CM Manik Saha reiterated the state will follow the CAA cut-off date of December 31, 2014, rejecting Tipra Motha’s demand for a 1971 cut-off based on the Indira-Mujib Accord.

Tripura is facing a serious demographic and political crisis due to unchecked illegal immigration from Bangladesh, with state authorities allegedly enabling the settlement of undocumented migrants. These migrants are receiving PRTCs, ration cards, voter IDs, housing, and even government jobs, without any detention or deportation measures in place.

Instead of building detention camps, the Tripura government has allowed entire illegal colonies to form, especially in Sadar and Khowai Divisions — involving thousands of families and tens of thousands of undocumented individuals.

Key Points:

Illegal Bangladeshi migrants are being regularized with full government benefits.

No deportation or proper verification is being done, despite regular arrests by BSF and police.

The state government uses 2014 (CAA cut-off) to determine legal status, ignoring the 1971 cut-off under the Indira-Mujib Pact.

MLA Ranjit Debbarma and the Council of Tipras Hora (CTH) are actively fighting to protect indigenous Tripuris and expose this issue.

The government’s actions (or inaction) indicate favoritism towards illegal migrants, threatening the rights, identity, and future of indigenous Tripuri people.

The issue is not just political — it's a matter of demographic security, constitutional rights, and indigenous survival.

Despite the historical Indira-Mujib Accord of 1972 setting March 25, 1971, as the cut-off date for recognizing Bangladeshi migrants, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has chosen December 31, 2014, as the benchmark for identifying illegal immigrants under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. Political observers and indigenous rights groups allege the move is driven more by vote bank politics than national interest, while the Special Task Force (STF) formed to detect migrants is being dismissed as ineffective and symbolic.

A Bangladeshi national, Abdul Kalam, was detained in Bhopal for living illegally in India for years under the false identity of a transgender woman named "Neha." He entered India at age 10, spent two decades in Mumbai, and later settled in Bhopal's Budhwara area, becoming a known figure in the local hijra (transgender) community.

Kalam managed to obtain an Aadhaar card, ration card, and even an Indian passport using forged documents. Investigations revealed he had also traveled abroad using these fake credentials.

His gender is now being verified medically to confirm whether the transgender identity was genuine or used as a disguise. Two local individuals who allegedly helped him secure fake documents are also under investigation. Authorities suspect this case may be part of a larger network of illegal immigration and identity fraud.

He has been detained for 30 days under the Foreigners Act, and deportation proceedings have started, pending a full investigation into his background and connections.

The case raises serious national security concerns and highlights possible loopholes in India’s documentation system.
